Vantage is not natively set up out of the box to handle process/batch mfg. very well. We have an in-house Heat treating operation that operates very similar to a plating operation.
We have looked into it somewhat and feel Vantage could be used with some large amount of customization. However since the Service Connect product came along, there is less reason to go in that direction and instead use service connect to integrate a best of breed package that is process/batch/industry oriented.
Also, some years ago Epicor was working with one of their customers (Alphe Heat Treat I think) to develop a process/batch capability. I believe the module that was developed was called something like "Advanced Process Mfg." or something like that. Do not know if it is for sale or if it is even being supported. I do not see it on their list of modules for Vantage.

Subject: [Vantage] Plating Shops and Vantage?
We are a job shop with a "sister" company that performs Metal Finishing services for the aerospace industry. We are on Vantage 6.1 and moving to Vantage 8.03.
Our Plating company is currently evaluating moving away from their existing software supplier to a new platform. I am assisting them in this process. I have found software that has been designed specifically for the plating industry, but wanted to ask this group if anyone is utilizing Vantage in a Metal Finishing Shop, or if you have Plating, painting in-house. I have more comfort with Vantage and could easily set them up as another company given that we share the same network and domain. I am not sure if Vantage will help with the Certificate of Compliance requirements and unit pricing versus hourly rate billing.
Any one out there with a comment or opinion as to the ability of Vantage to meet the needs of a plating shop would be appreciated.
