Thank-you Mitchell, Makes sense. I did think about deleting the price list
and replacing it with one of the same name with changes. One question, If
you have a price list linked to a customer with Vantage allow you to delete
it while it is linked??.. best way to see is to try
it.......................
Yes it does work, I deleted the price list and then looked at the customer,
an error message comes up saying price list is gone, but when I enter the
price list again under the same name in the price list section it
automatically comes through to the customer again..
Thanks again!!!!

Subject: RE: [Vantage] Price Lists?? . How do you do it?
I'll try to help but it's been several months since I did this last.
1. The export and import features do work. I had to use a work around due
to some formatting problems with Excel but it did work. Having said that, I
have not tried the latest version where the formatting problem was fixed. I
am on 5.10.115.
First, export a price list to get the correct format. Save this immediately
and work from a copy. It will save you a ton of time if you mess up. You
can always put the original back. Delete the original price list in
Vantage. Make your changes and import. This should work. Remember, you
ALWAYS have the original copy saved if you have to start over. My price
lists run to 900 lines so a backup copy is a good thing.
2. Increasing prices should be easy in Excel. Export your sample list and
open in Excel. Add a column with formulas to increase the prices by a fixed
percentage. Copy and paste the values only. This option converts formulas
to values. Delete the extra columns and import. I know I made it sound
easy and it's not but it can be. Let me know where you get stuck.
3. Making it look good will take some work. I would again start with
exporting into Excel. From there you can dress up the spreadsheet or paste
to Word to make it look good.
As you can tell I mostly use Excel. I have not tried this with Access. It
does work and I can help you. I have 11 price lists at about 900 lines each
which do work. I started with one price list of 20 lines entered into
Vantage. I exported it to get the format and test the process. I took an
existing Excel spreadsheet with all of the prices and formatted it based on
my test. I imported it into Vantage. I tested it with sales orders and
then cloned the others.
It works. It's a pain in the but the first time. Try it and let me know
where it breaks.

Subject: [Vantage] Price Lists?? . How do you do it?
I'm starting to use the Vantage Price list function and have come across
some problems.
I plan to create price lists in "access" for customers and customer group
with some small calculations for price increase because of burden and labour
rates changes. From "Access" I was going to create a price list in "excel"
and then import the prices in Vantage using the price list option in Sales
Management\order management\master file maintenance\price list
I thought I would work from Vantage backward to make sure I keep the format
in line with something vantage can read. I have tested and created a price
list with a few parts and in turn added that price list to a particular
customer and the price come though when entering a sales order :) I then
exported the price list file and that worked :) then I tried the import
function by just doing a small change to the price of a line item and bring
it back in. This is were things stop, it appears you can edit a price list
but can't import it back in under the same name you can only import NEW
price lists.
My question is, has an one try what I'm doing (export part No and unit
prices and increasing them and importing them back in) and if so did it
work??. secondly for people who have entered unit prices of parts how do you
increase price by say a flat percent rate across the board?, and how do you
produce a set price list for special contract customers that you can print
that LOOKS good??.
