It's been a while since I messed with it. But IIRC, most the forms /
reports had separate fields for the plain text and the bar code,
eg: PartNum and BCPartNum. Maybe I missed it, but I don' think there was
an easy single point to change in the report to turn them off. Most were
in their own sections, so I just set them to "suppress"

Does anyone print labels from Vantage for parts in Receiving at the point when you receive them on a PO?

If so, how does your process work, and what report are you using?

From the "Receipt Entry" screen click Labels then "Print Selected" or "Print
All".
this uses the Crystal report "Receipt Labels"

I just found that you also have to have "Print Bar Codes" check in your company configuration under "Inventory Configuration". Does anyone know if this "Print Bar Codes" box effects anything else in Vantage (ie. putting bar codes on stuff that we may not want it on). We don't use scanning equipment, so we only need the part number on labels/Packing Slips, not bar codes.

Yup! Seriously irritating "feature" there!

On all the other reports and forms with bar codes, the user has the option
to check the "print bar codes" box off or on. The setting in Company
Config only controls the default for the check box. As you found however,
you don't even have the option to print labels in receiving if it's not
enabled system wide.

By enabling it your users will be getting bar codes on lots of forms unless
they remember to click it off. I don't remember the entire list, but at
least travellers, pick lists, inventory tags, maybe packslips or
subcontract shippers, will all be printing bar codes by default.

We wanted to have the receiving label available, but don't use bar codes
anywhere else. I enabled it in Company Config, then had to modify every
Crystal form that had them to suppress the field or section with the
unwanted bar codes.

Wayne,

If all this is controlled by an on/off switch for bar codes, there must be one field in each of those Crystal reports that is on or off. Do you know which field that is, and if there is a simple way to click them always off in each report?

Why not just modify all your Crystal forms by suppressing the lines you
don't want? Make sure you make a backup first.
