Process to deconstruct an assembly

Hello.

In addition to building products for our customer, we also perform refurbishments on used products that they send us.

There are some cases where the customer does not want to spend the quoted amount for the refurb and they will tell us to salvage certain components and scrap the rest.
Essentially, we will deconstruct the assembly and want the salvageable parts to inventory.

Has someone come up with a process to handle the deconstruction of an assembly so that the activity is tracked in Kinetic?

In the past , we have used Job Receipt to Salvage.

  1. Create job for Part you are dis-assembling,
  2. Add Operation ( Rework? or what ever you want to use)
  3. Add Material ( the same Part number that you are using as the Job Part Number)
  4. Issue Material part number to job
  5. Job Receipt to Salvage from that job parts you want to recover
Note, Epicor wont let you salvage more cost than Material in step 3.
Note2, Had issues in past salvaging part with a standard SubContract cost if Material in step 3 did not have a subcontract cost. ( have not had to disassemble anything lately…)

Hope this helps…

Thank you, Mark. I up voted it but it looks like it’s been open for a while. Fingers crossed.

Thanks, Dean.

It looks like you can only salvage 1 part number for the job material. Meaning, I cannot break down 1 job material into 6 parts. Do I have that right?

Hi Joe,

Are you trying to salvage the part from the job ? There only 1 can be salvaged. If you go through Job receipt to salvage, you can salvage away
