Production planning module input

Diane,

I don't believe we have that marked... I will check. Maybe that's our
problem!

Thanks for the lead.

Kenneth,

We are still testing 4.0, did you find that this function worked in 3.0 and
now does not in 4.0? We use ABOM and if 1242-000 was listed in the bill of
materials for part number 1242-001 you would get a purchase suggestion for
it as long as it was marked to purchase it in the job. Is this not true in
4.0 as well??

We have been trialing the ABOM module, because we thought that it
would help us. However, it doesn't appear to meet our needs as well as I had
hoped. Is anyone using MRP in 4.0? I'd like some input on whether we need to
move to that. With MRP, is ABOM a required module?
I also have a specific situation that ABOM doesn't address; any
comments would be appreciated. Here's the situation:

1. We have a part 1242-001, which is an aluminum I-beam with glued flanges.
2. 1242-001 is manufactured from 1242-000 (mill finished aluminum) plus glue
and labor.
3. Jobs only pull the glued (i.e. manufactured) part, never the raw
material.
4. No matter how much glued part we allocate (even if it goes negative), we
never get a purchasing suggestion for the mill-finish part.

What are we missing here? Would MRP address this issue? In general,
our jobs are:
1. Made to order
2. Built intermittently
3. Have their own unique routings
4. Never produce more than what was ordered
5. Are built from common parts and subcomponents assembled
in unique ways

Help!
