Progress Database Administration Guide and Reference

Regarding the DB, no. I think Epicor recommends a Dump-n-Load annually, but
that is based off a high ETPY (estimated transactions per year). I haven't
done a D&L in 3 years. The Progress DB is fairly painless to admin. If you
are very transactional (MES, Inventory, Jobs, etc), then you may want to
give this attention annually. I've been live since 2007 and my db is only
2.6GB (very small; not heavily transactional).

[Obviously.] Make sure you back up nightly, at a minimum doing an online
backup. I like to keep a rolling copy of 10 days locally and also shuttle
the copy to another local server (redundant redundancy never hurts). Also
it will be picked up by Carbonite daily and sent to the mystical cloud.

That's really it. Coming from SQL, you don't need to do a reindex and/or
Update Stats every so often.

Anyone else please feel free to chime in if I missed something. :-)

If you liked SQL's ability to run adhoc queries from SQL Enterprise Mgr, get
SQuirreL installed now.

Victor,

Thank you for the link. I have used SQL with Epicor but, never progress.

Is there anything I should be doing on a Daily, Weekly, Monthly schedule?

Any advice would be appreciated.

While looking for an answer to something Progress-related, I stumbled upon
this site and thought I'd share as this is a great resource for Progress.
