We have a test server setup and are working on Version5
testing. When we relocated last weekend, we brought the
test server back up, and now can't get the Progress Explorer
to run. It gives a message saying
Can't connect to Admin Server. Please make sure the Admin
server is running (8836).

In Control Panel, Service, it says the Admin service for 9.1a is
running, but when I dug a little deeper, I found some files that have
todays date, with a message that says it can't find a file. The message
is :

Exception at Wed Mar 28 11:41:56 EST 2001: java.io.FileNotFoundException
Message (throw): Failure in instantiating AdminServer
Message (excp): d:\epic50\Progress\AdminServerPlugins.dat
Stack Trace:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: d:\epic50\Progress\AdminServerPlugins.dat
at java/io/FileInputStream.<init>
at java/io/FileReader.<init>
at com/progress/chimera/adminserver/AdminServer.getPluginInfo
at com/progress/chimera/adminserver/AdminServer.setupPlugins
at com/progress/chimera/adminserver/AdminServer.<init>
at com/progress/chimera/adminserver/AdminServer.<init>
at com/progress/vj/ntadminserver/NTAdminServer.<init>
at java/lang/Class.newInstance
at com/progress/chimera/adminserver/OSSpecific.getAdminServer
at com/progress/chimera/adminserver/AdminServer.main

Which file is it missing? How can I get this running again? Any help
or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I basically have until
Friday to get this up and running. Thanks in advance.

I've encountered the same problem. We were going to upgrade straight from 3
to 5 but decided to use Version 4 for now.

We have a test server setup and are working on Version5
testing. When we relocated last weekend, we brought the
test server back up, and now can't get the Progress Explorer
to run. It gives a message saying
Can't connect to Admin Server. Please make sure the Admin
server is running (8836).

In Control Panel, Service, it says the Admin service for 9.1a is
running, but when I dug a little deeper, I found some files that have
todays date, with a message that says it can't find a file. The message
is :

Exception at Wed Mar 28 11:41:56 EST 2001: java.io.FileNotFoundException
Message (throw): Failure in instantiating AdminServer
Message (excp): d:\epic50\Progress\AdminServerPlugins.dat
Stack Trace:

at java/io/FileInputStream.<init>

at com/progress/vj/ntadminserver/NTAdminServer.<init>
at java/lang/Class.newInstance
at com/progress/chimera/adminserver/OSSpecific.getAdminServer
at com/progress/chimera/adminserver/AdminServer.main

Which file is it missing? How can I get this running again? Any help
or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I basically have until
Friday to get this up and running. Thanks in advance.
