Project - setting up wbs

I am trying to correct an error in entering a WBS phase in the Project Entry; and finally, decided just to delete the phase that had the erroneous date–because I could not change/correct the date. EPICOR continues to flag me with an date error, though the phase is deleted.

What should I do?

Can you provide some screen prints or details?

Hello, the screen shots didn’t seem to come through. Can you try them again?

You may be able to read this; the error message details of:

“Task 18T-1.13 Start Date is before Project Start Date”

EPICOR-WBS-ERROR-SUMMARY

Your phase dates cannot be outside your project dates.

So StartDate<=WBSStart and WBSEnd<=EndDate.

I remember this getting tricky sometimes with the errors constantly popping up, but you just need to get the WBS dates within the start-end date of the project.

Edit: Try expanding the project dates outside the WBS dates first.

Oh yes, I know(knew) that; the problem was actually resolving it: initially trying to change-correct the dates of that phase, the date entry was not accepted or would not accept an edit. I then deleted the out-of-timeframe phase thinking that would stop the error, but the error kept appearing—even after deleting multiple, associated phases.
Okay, but that still did not work! I suppose the hardest lesson is that dates must be initially entered correctly, within the project timeframe.

What happens however when the project Due Date changes later on, baseline shifts, and the phase date needs to revised?
Do you revise the project timeframe then work downward to the phase(s)?

That is what we do. Project first and then phases.
