ProVision

Don't mix versions of Progress. It can be done, but you really need to know what you are doing before you start. In your case, unless you have customized your install of Progress in some way, I think you would be safe in allowing the install to replace the existing
image.

Can anyone tell me where I would normally find the install files for
ProVision? We purchased it along with Vantage, got the code numbers, etc.,
but have never tried to install it.

Tried to today, and I don't see it on any of the CDs we've gotten. Did
Epicor short us?

-Thanks,
Wayne
If you have a CD from Progress, that is the one that has the components of Provision. There is no single file for provision. There are N files, where N tends to a Very Large Number, and will vary depending on which components you choose to install. You should see file
called setup.exe. Run that, and follow the screen prompts. (the Progress CD is usually an autorun, so put it in the drive, and the setup process should start automatically).

Doug & William, thanks. I tried firing it up off the 4.0 Vantage CD with
9.0. It said it "detected a previous Progress" install on the network
drive where Vantage was, and that it "would only install there." I was
concerned about it scribbling on my other stuff and aborted it. Is the
routine on the Vantage CD some "tailored" install I need to work
around? The document on EraNet says it should be installed locally on PC
where it would be used from.

I have the 4.0 Vantage disk with Progress 9.0 as well as an
original-from-Progress 8.3B CD.

-Thanks,
Wayne
If you want to install it on your workstaion here is what I did:

Uninstall the client portion of 4.0 on your workstation.
Then "reinstall" Progress on the client machine with the Provision codes.
Then rerun the Vantage client setup. I did this just a week ago and it seem
to be fine.

Hope this helps.
