Purchase and Make Direct checked and grayed out

I have a handful of parts that are set up as Manufactured in the Part master, but when they are used as materials in a job the Make Direct and Purchase direct check boxes get set to TRUE. The boxes are Grayed out and I can’t uncheck them. System is creating PO suggestions for them too.

Any tips on how to release the gray so I can edit them?

Is the job marked as “Engineered”? Uncheck it then see if you can make changes.

If so, there is a checkbox on Company Config called “Prevent Changes” that will lock almost all the fields when the job is marked engineered.

You might have a rogue bpm somewhere - it shouldn’t be possible to set both of those to true.

That’s a good point, I’ve had the exact scenario happen before.

We sometimes have Make Direct set in error. Usually I find when I can’t walk it back it is because the MFG job exists. Try deleting the job or the PO suggestion and see if you can walk it back after.

Jobs were engineered = false so I could make changes.

So its read only for these handful of parts or is it all jobs in the system?

Like Alisa suggested, it could be a rogue bpm. If its all jobs, maybe it got marked read only in extended properties. But it is odd that both checkboxes are true, that sounds like a bpm is setting the value.

I was able to UN gray the check boxes by removing the demand link from the child job. Once I did that both of them were available to edit. Still not sure why or how they were both checked. No BPMs that I know of on our Jobs table.

If you relink it do they both get checked again? If you can reproduce it I would report it to support, maybe a bug.

No they did not gray back out. After relinking the jobs I was able to edit the fields normally. I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue for bug reporting. :frowning:
