Purchase Order Entry PODetail.VendPartNum is validating in 10.2.500.3

We went live with 10.2.500.3 on Oct 16. We have a custom field on purchase order Entry> line>detail tab that is data bound to PODetail.VendPartNum. In 10.1.500.27 there was no validation on this field and the user could type any part number. Now in 10.2.500.3 when the user types in a part they get a message saying “Supplier part not found.”
Is this a new feature? Is there any way to disable this validation?
