Purchasing unapproved items Vantage 8.03

I didn't get the new codes with 8.03 either. I called customer service
and the emailed me the codes right away. BPM was included.

That's interesting as BPM is still in the lefthand column on the
licensing screen. Come to think of it, we never got any new codes
when we moved to 803. I'll contact Epicor to see if we are eligible
for it.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Hi All,

It seems strange that you can purchase unapproved parts in Vantage. We
are an electronics manufacturer and quite often un-approve our circuit
boards to stop transactions being taken out against them.

I would like at the very least for a message box to pop up when you add
an unapproved part to a purchase order. Is this possible with
customization in Vantage 8.03?

Cheers,

Jonathan
Yes you can do this with customization or with no programming via BPM

BPM being another module to purchase, I assume? Do you reckon it
would still be possible to a customization-style workaround?

Set it to Inactive. That will prevent adding it to a PO....
Unapproved can be ordered on a PO....

Another option is to set the part to Run Out. This allows for parts
in inventory to be used, but does create a warning message if
someone tries to add the part to a PO. (I don't remember if it
prevents adding the part to the PO or only shows the warning
message.)
