QA Module

Joe,

We are just about to advertise for a QA person and need the procedures
as they relate to Vantage as well. I would appreciate it if you would
forward a copy to us as well.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Joe,

We are in the process of implementing the QA module also, so if
you wouldn't
mind sharing your QA procedures with us, it would certainly be
greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

We are looking for a good way to improve our inspection/quality
assurance department. I would appreciate any feedback about the
Vantage Quality Assurance Module. Also I was wondering if Vantage
Document Management is available from within the QA module. If
anyone knows of any other QA software that they could recommend I
would be very grateful.
As it stands right now the qa module does very little. Every
transaction created in qa does nothing anywhere else that
you would expect. For example... if you pass non-conformance
items back to a job they really don't go back. You have to
go in to job adjustment and add them. If you scrap something
you get zero material requirements to replace it. All the

We use the quality module with a fare amount of success. It still has a few
weaknesses, for example once the part has been identified has being returned
to the vendor it does not re-open the purchase order (the Purchase manger
has to do it). In other words like all the other Vantage modules it's not
perfect but it does the job for us. I do not recommend going to another
software unless its fully integrated with Vantage (that sort of defeats the
idea of a fully integrated ERP software), the fact the quality module is
link the reception an the purchasing module is important.

The Quality Module is a new module on release 4.0, as any new module only
the basic elements are there will little integration. New modules in vantage
will not even have basic elements we get with other modules such as VBFORMS.
This is by design until we as customer give them enough feedback to direct
them on enhancements. You will find it will trap scrap and returns, log them
into DMRs and then to corrective actions. Don't assume it will do anything
until you try it on your system. It will take a couple of releases before we
see what we think would be obvious, such as right click on a job operation
and go to DMR Tracker. DMR Tracker does not exist and at this point is only
on a wish list some where. I reviewed CAIRO (version 5.0) in the hall of
solutions at Perspectives. In version 4.0 all scrap reported went to
Inspection Processing which forced you to create a DMR to get ride of it. In
version 5.0 two fields are added in data collection one for scrap and a
second for discrepant material. Scrap is as we know it in version 3.0,
Discrepant will feed inspection processing. My comment to Epicor was why not
call it non-conforming or "For inspection processing" on the data collection
screen and let your QC dept decide if it is defective or not? You know there
technically is a legal issue here, as in don't say its defective the return
it to the job and use it. So as you can see the module is sill trying to
define basic terminology as well as functionality. My recommendation even
though the Quality Module is pretty green, is go with Epicor, by taking
advantage of an integrated module you still are ahead of any other solutions
out their, and in the long you will be better off.

Hi Joe

If it's not too presumptious I'd appreciate a look at your QA procedeure. If you're agreeable you can e-mail me off list.

All the
QA module really amounts to is a log file. We're going to
be using it because we have nothing else but we also have
a 10 page procedure for the QA department to make sure
jobs get adjusted correctly.
