Quality Assurance Module - RMA Processing

We are using QA for DMR (vendor supplied material) and RMA (Customer

separate the funtions. There are some overlaps. Here are our codes

I was wondering if anyone else is using the QA module and handling RMA processing. I currently have a call in to support but they need to research it a bit more so I thought I'd see if anywhere else was having an issue similar to ours.

I have setup reason codes in the reason code maintenance under the QA module. There are several pre-defined types (not change or addable) and under the RMA type I ahve added 9 specific reason codes. Basically why did the customer send the stuff back to us. When we go to disposition the RMA (usually scrap so we select "Fail") there is a reason field on the screen but it does not refer to the RMA reason codes. It only has <add>. This goes to the Reason Code maintenance screen but has no association to the type "RMA". Also, curiously, in the help screen for RMA Disposition there is no mention at all (in the green hyperlinks) for the Reason field.

Either we are doing something wrong or there are some chunks of RMA processing that are not correct. Just wondering if this is a known issue.

I just checked here. The reason codes for failing parts on an RMA are the
DMR codes. Go figure.

Ed and Todd:

This functionality seems to make sense to me. The use of DMR-reason-type
reason codes when entering an RMA disposition due to failing of the returned
material is consistent with the use of these same codes when entering a
failed quantity coming from another type of nonconformance. The only major
difference is that the RMA disposition screen does not allow you the option
of choosing an existing DMR to which to add the failed returned material, as
shown below (if the captured screens are viewable). Instead, Vantage
automatically creates a new DMR using the next sequential number.

As you put it, Todd, the RMA-reason-type reason code tells "basically why
did the customer send the stuff back to us". The DMR-reason-type reason
code simply continues the quality control process and tells basically why we
failed the returned stuff and deemed it to be discrepant material.
