Question on thick client UI

Hi all,

We’re about to move from 2021.x to 2025.2.11. Most of our customizations are form related, and came across pretty smoothly. In order to reduce the “big bang” of such a move, we’re keeping with the last release of the thick client, and will be kicking off a “migration to the web” immediately after go-live.

I’m struggling with this client though. I can’t seem to find a way to get rid of or stifle “Try Kinetic in the browser” button, and I don’t want people able to use the newer interface -at all- until we’re fully ready. It seems impossible to get this to happen so far. Plus, it seems like many of the command line parameters or .sysconfig entries are just ignored now.

Any assistance or pointers to other posts / things would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at this thread.

There are user and menu options and the BPM to prevent it, we used both.

It looks like we used this on post processing on Menu.GetRows and Menu.GetRowsTranslated

Holy… I never imagined it would be such an amazingly obtuse effort. Thank you.

Welcome to the new world

Thank @klincecum, I borrowed this from him.

I feel dumb asking this, but after 2025.2 (i.e. 2026.1) they’re stating that only the “Kinetic” interface is supported. Does that mean we can still use the Windows thick client, just their Kinetic interface, or does that mean everyone must access Epicor via the web in the Kinetic interface?

There will no longer be a thick client. Kinetic will be web browser only.

Ahh. So Kinetic was the GUI shift, and now (2026.1) the GUI shift is purely supported on the web only. Thank you.
