Quick Launch Tab

In Kinetic when you first log in on the home screen is a Quick Launch tab. I know you can edit tab and remove it or remove items. Is there a way to just hide that tab from everyone? I am wondering if it can be hidden. Since when you edit it you can check a box to Retain When Hidden. Unless I don’t understand this properly.

Can I also create Tabs (pages; I am not sure of the correct terminology) for specific users. So I would like to create one for Purchasing. I know I can create a new tab just not sure if I can publish it for all users.

Hello,

If you have several tabs or panels on your Kinetic home page, where you have placed different components (dashboards, reports, BAQ widgets, etc.), then if “Retain When Hidden” is checked:

  1. The component retains its state and data, even if it is not currently visible (e.g. a hidden tab).
  2. If you open it again later, you do not have to reload the data.
Helps maintain performance when there are many exchanges and it is not advisable to constantly refresh data.

I also use it, in some cases even useful

Recommended to use if data loading is slow and you want to maintain the user experience.
Avoid if you always want the latest data, because it may show outdated information (you have to manually refresh the content, Refresh from the overflow menu)

You can definitely do this! You have to have the “Can Publish Home Page Layouts” checked on your user account, then you can create home page layouts and publish them. When you publish a layout, it will publish all of the tabs in the layout together.

When you have a home page ready to publish, hit the three vertical dots on the home page and select layout management. From there you can add a new layout or republish an existing one, this process will also give you the option to set a security code for the layout. Once you have one published you can go back to User Account Security Maintenance and assign the layout to the appropriate users under the Default Published Home Page Layout.

One quick I’ve noticed is that as long as the users don’t make a copy of the home page (to add another tile or something) then you can republish the layout and they will get the new version. If they change something, then they’re technically using a copy and they won’t get updates if you republish the layout. The users would have to go to Change Layout and reselect the published version.
