File has been uploaded to egroups. (see address at end or email) Called QuoteODBC.zip
To run this report, you first have to preview the quote in Vantage (4.0) and then run the report. It reads the dbf files in c:\vntgwork, and accesses the database with ODBC for extra info.
You might have to re-verify it on your system as we have security on our ODBC user.
It should at lease give you an idea on how to setup a mixed report. I have others (Traveller) which are fully ODBC, all you have to do on it is type in the job number.
Hope this helps

David,
Don't forget that you can post it to the Files section of the Yahoo web site
(see file link on message footer). This does require that you have a Yahoo
ID before you can get to the files section, but posting your file there does
allow others access to the same file without flooding the list with "me,
too" messages.
Thanks for you willingness to share your work! That attitude is what makes
this list so valuable!

No, you don't write to the database using ODBC EVER. It can cause too many
headaches which, as you say, are billable by Epicor.
Just write an ODBC version of the Crystal report to pull info from the
live system rather than from the dbf files it generates on your C drive. It
is even possible to modify the existing report to include ODBC tables in the
data file type report. Doing the combined report usually means that you have
to run the existing report in Vantage, then run your modified report
externally. If you make a completely ODBC report, all you have to enter is
the Quote number you created in Vantage and you can set it up to read the
rest of the info through ODBC.
If you want an example quote form, email me privately, & I will send one
to you. (Yahoo doesn't allow attachments) Or I can put it on my web site for
you to download.

David,
Are you talking about modifying the crystal quote report to access
records through ODBC, or actually making a new front end to the quote
module?
I read the other day that any related support to customers by Epicor to
those writing to the database using ODBC would be billable.

Just rewrite the quote form as ODBC. We had to do this as we needed
costs on
there. We also rewrote our Traveller to include prices & shipment
release
information.

Has anyone paid for custom programming so that the quote module will
pull prices from the part master? I would be interested in more
details.
Thanks in advance!
Andrew
