How is this being Received?

Is someone doing a manual Job Receipt Into Inventory? Or is someone
doing a data collection into the Job operation, in which the operation
is set to Final Operation and Auto-Receipt Inventory?

I have a BPM that prevents data collection issues (Over data collection)

Just do another receipt from job but enter -10 as the qty.

Subject: [Vantage] Rcvd Too Many Pieces from a job

We are finding that we sometimes rcv too many pcs from a job. It appears
that most of these are from repeating the transaction and not realizing
it has been done already.

Example:

Job is for 10 pcs

One transaction to inventory for 10 pieces

And a repeat transaction for 10 pcs

What is the best way to clean this up? Should we just do a qty
adjustment to balance out the true inventory? Or is there some process
to return the excess back to the job that I am overlooking?

Also, is this something that a BPM could keep us from doing in the
future? (A BPM that would not allow us to rcv more than the job
qty....over multiple transactions)

Thanks,

Jason Dearth

Good question. All I do is do an Inventory Adjustment. I'd be curious as
to what others do, too.

A BPM is definitely doable to proactively handle this and alert the shop
employee.

Yes, you can have a BPM stop this from happening.

In the past (pre-BPM) we fixed these receipts by doing a negative 'Job
Receipt to Inventory'.

The negative job reciepts to inventory work, but if I ship before I catch it then there are big problems with average cost. This is next on my to do list, if anyone has a good BPM written I would love to use it.
