We are experimenting with accepting a part on a DMR to a rework job as issued material. The rework job would be for the same part number that is being issued, and would inherit the serial number of the issued material.
We thought we could do this by checking “Reassign SN to Assembly” on the rework job material, but when it is issued from the DMR, the SN shows as consumed instead of WIP. When we try to receive the reworked part into stock, it isn’t possible to select that SN.
This logic works fine when issuing a serialized part from stock to a job, but for some reason it doesn’t work from the DMR. Is there a better way to go about this?
We haven’t tried changing it there, I’m guessing that would work but it wouldn’t be a long term solution. We tested in other companies and it assigns the SN to upper level fine even from DMR, so maybe it’s a setting on the part?
SNTrans can also cause an issue If there are SNTrans like MAINT or something like that it can cause the SN to not be pickable. Does this happen all the time or just on one item?
