Not sure I’m ‘smart’ but for someone you know, I setup something similar that captures Part Cost & On Hand Balances Nightly. They use this for various purposes.

Yes, it was you Mr. Bird. 
I run the SSR everynight with the results emailed to me. That way I have a record of the end of the day cost for every part, every day. Mostly useful for forensic investigations requested by accounting.
