Relating associated parts for sales

Good Afternoon,

We would like to have a system approach to noting parts that are associated with another (parent). For example, sales kits or accessories tied to the parent that gets sold. We are thinking of Preventive maintenance kits of parts, startup kits, etc, sometimes an accessory. I know I could use a ud table and have the parent tied to a bunch of other part numbers. However, this seems like a functionality many mfrs need and I am wondering if I am missing something that already exists. On the part record there’s an attributes tab that we’ve never used… I wonder if some folks use this.

So if you do anything like this and have a couple of minutes to share your methodology, I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks,
Nancy

Hey Nancy!

Have you looked at Part Alternates?

Look at the “Alternates” tab in Part entry. You can set the “Alternate Type” to Complement and it will have an indicator in Order entry that there is a complementary part that goes with it. Click on the icon and it will create the line for you

Oh wow. We use alternates for actual alternate parts. I didn’t realize that the complementary could be used for this. Thank you @Mark_Wonsil and @E102016 !

If you have multiple alternates for the part you can pick from “1- all” and it will create a line for each
