Releasing Auto Tab Grouper - A way to manage multiple companies, sites and environments in the browser

Hi All,

I would like to release to you all a free extension for MS Edge I have created for our consultants and have now released to our customers and beyond.

It is an extension that allows you to use the tab grouping functionality in Edge but in an automated fashion.

You set up your URL prefix’s along with optional query parameters. When set up it will automatically tab your groups together based on your settings.

I have kept the extension generic so it does not just work with Kinetic, however with the optional query parameters the way Kinetic uses the Company and Site values in the URL you can set it up to have different tab groups / names / colours for each company, site and environment.

The link to the extension is here. On the extension page is the details along with a YouTube video of me explaining the extension.

I know there has been many topics and comments on here wishing for a better way to handle the tabs in Kinetic and I hope this helps some people out.

Any questions just shout.

Currently it is MS Edge only. I will be looking to tweak and release for Chrome in the future.

It looks to function the same way as the more widely used Tabs Groups Extension. Curious how yours compares to this extension?

Interesting . Before I developed it I searched high and low for one that met my requirements. Either this doesn’t do instance level and query parameters or I didn’t look hard enough.

Will take a look tomorrow. Thanks

I have it working for separating instance and company.

An annoying thing about the tab groups, is how some of the groups will reopen like they are pinned when you close all browser windows. It would be nice if yours fixes that.

Ah. Cool. Clearly I didn’t look at all of them. Also I think I mainly looked at the Edge store.

I believe that is a Chrome ‘Feature’. It doesn’t do that in Edge with mine and is on my list of things to tackle when I port over to chrome as well.
