Report Builder "File error (100)"

From back in March of 2003...... The consensus at the time was that the PRL was corrupted - possibly from having too many reports in it. The only solution was to restore from a backup from early enough before the PRL was corrupted. Even then sometimes the corrupted PRL had been backed up for a considerable time before the problem was noticed.

Here is a recap of the thread from back then (read from bottom up it makes more sense).

I had the exact same problem here. I used a prior copy and also got the
same error. I tried renaming and still didn't work. I restored the library
(same name) from our prior version of Vantage 5.0 which I saved on CD (we
are on 5.2), and it worked. Had to change all the database connections.
However, I have lost several reports that were in my newest library, and
will have to spend a significant amount of time re-building

This is pretty strange. I restored the library from a couple of days ago
when I wasn't getting this error but I still get the error from the restored
file. Then I restored one from two weeks ago just to be sure, same error.
I'm still able to run reports from this library linked through Custom Report
Link but I'm not able to go in through Report Builder to edit them.

Any ideas?? HELP!!

From the Progress KnowledgeBase: (badly wrapped link below)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ID P4719
Title: "Opening Report Builder library fails with error File error (100)"
Known to occur in:
Windows NT32 Intel/Windows 2000
Progress 9.x

Cause:
.prl file is corrupted

Fix:
Restore from most recent backup of your Library (.prl) file
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've heard this can happen if the .prl is too large (too many reports).

I'm getting this error when trying to open one of my Report Builder
Libraries. All other libraries seem to open just fine.
Unfortunately, this has all my active reports in it! Any ideas?

Hello All,

Somebody in the group had a fix for this about a year ago but I forget what it was...now I have this problem again:

I have a Report Builder library that I get a "File error (100)" when attempting to open. All the Custom Report Links to this library still work fine but I can't open the library to edit.

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks,
