Report Builder link help

Ann:
After all your blood, sweat and tears you may want to try Sarah's report
she put on egroups a day or so ago. It begins with the Job cost
information. You probably could join the InvcDtl file to that with out much
trouble.

Subject: [Vantage] Report Builder link help

I have constructed a report in Report Builder that calculates Estimated vs.
Actual costs for labor, burden, mtl, subcontract with totals for jobs which
I can get from the JobAsmbl table, which runs fine. I also have to add to
this report the actual price charged to the customer which I am trying to
pull from the InvcDtl table. The route I have taken is to link
(JobAsmbl-JobHead joining with Company & JobNum, I've tried Inner and Left),
then (JobHead-JobProd joining with Company & JobNum, I've tried Inner and
Left), then (JobProd-InvcDtl joining with Company & OrderNum & OrderLine &
OrderRelNum, Left). You should know that we ship from Inventory, not from
the Job, and that we sometimes link multiple orders to a job. The filter I
am using is JobAsmbl.Company Matches "AMFAB-1" and JobAsmbl.JobNum begins
"016" and JobHead.JobCompletionDate>=01/01/2001. I don't want to use the
JobNum begins "016" filter, but I can't get it to run at all without it.
When this JobNum filter is used and it does run, it appears I am getting the
correct data and pricing needed from InvcDtl, but the filter is keeping me
from getting all the jobs. If I change that line to JobNum begins "01", it
takes forever to run and the first page prints landscape as it should, but
the additional pages print portrait with missing and spaced data. I know
I'm close to getting what I want, but I obviously need to find another
route. I'm pretty good with the formulas, but the joins get the best of me
sometimes. If you know a better place to find the actual price, or can
suggest better joins and links please let me know. My primary data is in
JobAsmbl and InvcDtl tables. The only data I am using in the report from
JobHead is the JobCompletion Date, but I could get by with ShipDate in
InvcDtl instead if I have to give up the JobHead table.. JobProd is only
there for the link.
Thanks in advance for your input!
