I’m trying to add some more fields into the default report styles.
I have created a new report definition from BAQ tables, copied the system SSRS report style to a new report ‘SQL Server Reporting’ style, and linked to the definition I created.
I’m following the instructions in the article ‘Designing SSRS Reports’, but where it directs ’ 1. Launch the report that has the custom SSRS style, such as the Book Listing Report. 2. Expand the Advanced card. 3. Select the custom Report Style you created from the drop-down list. 4. Now select the Overflow menu and Generate for Design. I’m stuck here because I don’t have this ‘Generate for Design’ in the overflow menu, my menu lists are 'Delete report style, Retrieve Status (RDLs-OK), Copy report style, Analyse and include RDD, Share, E-signatures, Settings, and debug tool.
I’m not familiar at all with the report design function of Epicor so not sure which step I did incorrectly, any advice is very much appreciated.
Back on step one you want to be on the print app rather than Report Style. like where you would print the Purchase Order report for example. Go there for whichever report you’re working on.
Hi Josh, thanks so much for your help! Can you please very kindly clarify a little bit more by the print app? For example I am trying to edit the APEdit report, in the AP Invoice Group Entry - Group Edit List, the Generate for Design function is greyed out, I have selected the customer report style in the Advanced tab’
You’re in the right place. Sorry I forget why it’s greyed out and what’s supposed to work when. I believe it should be enabled if you’ve selected a custom report style but the SSRS design experience in Kinetic has been problematic. Others on here are tracking the current status better than I.
Create a kinetic menu item for your custom report style in Menu Maintenance.
Launch it from the menu you created.
From there you should be able to “Generate from design”
I did this and generate for design was available:
Copy Report Style on base style 2, which created style 1001 valid in the company i’m in.
Created an AP Invoice Entry group and an invoice, click button to print group edit list.
In here, change report style to the new one i created (Copy of… )
Now I can click “Generate for design” from the 3 dots
I’m not sure what I did wrong, I just followed the same steps, in the custom menu for AP invoice, I created a proper test AP invoice with dates and amounts all filled up, and the ‘generate for design’ is still greyed out. May I ask is it correct to use ‘SQL Server reporting’ as the report type?
I also tried just printing the new report style I created, and it definitely works, it prints out the report with the information, I just need to design it.
