From time to time I receive the question if we can have a customer only purchase some parts and restrict the sales of other parts. Allowed parts will depend of the customer. One approach would be to setup a UD parts list and a BPM on sales order entry to allow only the parts on the list to be added to the customer’s sales order, another would be to setup a property on each part and select what customer or customer group can sell that part.
We have around 1100+ customers and 10,000+ active parts. Looking to see if anyone is already doing this and would like to share how you have it setup.

Do you use customer price lists? That would be one way to say if a part is
not on that customers price list then throw a BPM exception at the time of
the order line. Would save some time versus maintaining a UD table if you
were using price lists
Build your orders always from History.
Through DMT, create a sales order for each customer (orders below your starting number)
1000 - 2000, add in lines of sales orders
After entering the orders, close them so you don’t drive any demand.
In company config set your history to include these orders (go back far enough)
When entering an order, do action --> build order from history
