We are relatively new to Kinetic and just starting to process RMA’s. I have a serialized part that I sold, which was later returned. I went through the RMA process:
Created the RMA
Added the Line, Qty of 1
Created a Credit Memo & Applied it to clear the original invoice
Created the Receipt with a Qty of 1
Went to Inspection Processing
Created an RMA Disposition
All these transactions referenced the correct serial number when needed.
So far, so good. But here’s my issue…I cannot find that part in anywhere in inventory.
in the Part Transaction History Tracker, I see the RMA-INS transaction, and an INS-CUS transaction. Both show a qty of 1, the INS-CUS has a dollar value associated with it, but the running total of the part is not changed. I had one before I started and I still show one in inventory.
I looked at the Serial Number tracker…it shows the sale AND the RMA receipt of 1, although it does still show the status as shipped.
I looked at at the Inventory/WIP Reconciliation report, but there was no activity there for either the INS-CUS transaction type or even the part number.
What step or setup did I miss? From the accounting side, the credit memo corrected debited revenue, credited receivables, but since there was no inventory movement, there was no corresponding credit to COGS.
