Roll Back Upgrade

I’ve looked around the net and have not seen a lot on this topic. I want to know how to roll back an upgrade in preparation for upgrading just in case we need to revert to the old version.

I’ve taken a backup of the database prior to the upgrade so that can be restored. What I’m not sure of is how to roll back the Epicor Admin Console. I’ve tried to repoint it to the old version, that’s a no go.

Can you add another application server pointed to the old version and restored database?

If you are virtual you can take a snapshot of the app server before the upgrade and a database backup and if things go south revert to the snapshot and restore the db.

You can have the original app server still pointing to the original database and copy the db to a new name and make a new app server for the upgrade.

I would do this in advance so then on go live all you need to do is stop the app server, restore the current db to the new name and do the upgrade.

That’s what I would do…

We are on prem.

Okay. That should be doable. I can get a snapshot of the app server and if things go sideways have our network guys restore the snapshot over top of app server that we upgraded.

I was hoping that there would be an easy way in the Epicor admin console to switch it back.

You need a backup of the database as well Tammy. Cause the upgrade does stuff to the database. So you’ll want a copy of the data base BEFORE the upgrade.
