Is there an OOB method to help determine if BOM components are either available or can be sourced by SO due date, prior to customer PO confirmation? If there is no OOB method, can someone share their 10k-foot view of how they handle this?
The issue:
If a customer submits a PO for a manufactured part with a 10-week lead time, how can the order entry user know if one of the BOM components has a 14-week lead time, before PO confirmation to the customer?
Model:
The manufactured part has four components and subPart3 has the 14-week lead time. All other subPart#’s have a 2-week lead time and do not have availability issues.
Scenario A:
There are currently enough subPart3’s on hand to fulfill the sales order.
Scenario B:
There are currently enough subPart3’s to fulfill half of the order, but the other half will require the 14-week lead time.
Scenario C:
There are no subPart3’s in stock and must await the 14-week lead time.
