Sales Report

Most of our sales are done through distributors. I need a report out of
Vantage that would give me sales in any time period based on where our
products were shipped. We are going to start a rebate procedure and I need
to know where the true sales are going. Knowing the total sales to the
distributor will not give me the information I am looking for. If anyone has
something built along these lines and would be willing to share, I would
greatly appreciate it!

Hi all, I am trying to put together a report that shows me all the parts we
sold in the last 2 years with the corresponding last invoice date. Does
anyone know the field or formula I should be using so that ONLY the last
invoice date appears on the report and not all invoice dates? I am just
joining the InvcHead and InvcDtl tables. Should I be joing another? Any help
is much appreciated. Thanks

Here's what I would do (although there are probably other methods as well):

Create a PartNum sort and group. Create an aggregate field as the Called
'LastInvDate' and set it to be the 'Max' of 'InvoiceDate', Every Composite,
Reset on each PartNum.

Create a groupFooter for the PartNum group and add the 'LastInvDate' field
into that group (along with the other info you need). Suppress the record
lines.

Sort/group on the date and do all your reporting in the group footer?
Should show only the last info.

Well, I will try this again. I am trying to create a report in report
builder that shows three columns; sales$$, grouped by customer, for the
period before 10/01/2000. Sales$$, Grouped by customer for the period from
10/01/2000 to 09/30/2002 and a third column that shows sales$$, grouped by
customer for the period before 10/01/2000. I have an iif statement that
says:

IFF (FiscalYear <=2000 and FiscalPeriod <=9,extprice,0) this works great

For the period after 09/30/2002 I have an iif statement that says:

IFF (FiscalYear >=2002 and FiscalPeriod >=10,extprice,0) this works great

I then aggregate on these two statements.
I cannot however come up with a statement to grab the sales between
10/01/2000 to 09/30/2002. Can anyone offer some suggestions?

Thanks

Try using a calculated field to stick the year and period together into one
big number, eg: FiscalYear * 100 + FiscalPeriod

For Sep 2002, you'll have 200209. It's a lot easier to sort & compare
periods this way.

Following your logic it would be something like:

IIF((FiscalYear > 2000 and FiscalPeriod > 9) AND (FiscalYear < 2002 and
FiscalPeriod < 10),extprice,0)

Todd,

Why not use the invoice date?

IIf (InvcDtl.Invdate >= 10/01/2000 and InvcDtl.invdate <= 09/30/2002, extprice,0)

OR

Create a calculated field:

YrMon => Fiscal.Year + ( Fiscal.Period / 100 ) ; this yields a decimal like 2001.02

Then change your other fields to

Iff (YrMon > 2000.10, extprice, 0)
Iff (YrMon >= 2002.10, extprice, 0)
Iff (YrMon >= 2000.10 and YrMon < 2002.10, extprice, 0)

Better yet, if you use Crystal, create parameters that will prompt the user for the two boundry dates, name them
LowDate and HiDate.

Formula fields would then be

Sales before Lodate calc ==> If InvcDate < {?Lodate} then extpirce else 0
Sales after HiDate calc ==> If InvcDate > {?HiDate} then extprice else 0
Sales From Lo to Hi ==> If InvDate >={?LoDate} and InvcDate <={?HiDate} then extprice else 0

Good Luck,
Jim Stetter

I am trying to recreate a sales report we had in our old system that
showed sales by salesperson, then customer, then product group and
finally part number. It would then sum total sales for salesperson,
customer and product group. It would also be nice if this report could
show this year period vs last year period and maybe year to date this
year vs last year as well.

I have talked to Epicor and they put me in touch with a consultant who
was good with Crystal Reports, but they were unalbe to duplicate the old
report. They also informed me it was not possible to get a this year vs
last year comparision.

Has anyone else built a similar report and is it possible to get a this
year vs last year comparison?

Thanks,

Mike
Year to year comparisons are certainly possible in Crystal. Please contact
me off-list for the details.

Michael
