Satelitte and Citrix/Terminal Server do not mix

I just caught the thread about the satellite option. Just keep in mind that
Citrix/TS and Satellite do not mix. The lag time is too great. I was
trying to get remote access to a remote site for our Citrix server.
Everyone I talked to said yea it will work great and it's fast. But when I
finally got a tech on the line he said it is fine providing you don't want
to run to a TS as the lag is too high and causes excessive drops. Just an
FYI.

We do not have any broadband options because our business is in a
remote area of Vermont and are considering 2-way satellite service
for internet and email. We are considering going with Skycasters who
are resellers for Hughes DirecWay Satellite Service and wondered if
anyone has any dealings with them or any comments on the subject.

Thanks.

I looked into it for a branch office, looks like a good deal and stable
technology. I understand that there is a small lag time that could effect
applications such as gaming that rely on quick updates. I think the cost
was $699.00 for installation and equipment and $69.00 a month for service.
If I wasn't bound by a 3 year contract, I would have it installed here. We
are out in the booneys as well. We have to pay a local loop charge to
Indianapolis that costs us $750.00 per month plus our internet access
charges. I could put two or three out and still realize substantial
savings.
Thanks
