I am looking for how to save the layout so that it is fully expanded for the tracking field. I can save the layout but can’t have the tracking field fully expanded so that they can see it all without having to expand it.
You want to make a personalization and then add that to a customization. Read this post on the way to do this.

The only way I have ever done it was to personalize the grid and then add that to a customization.

Go into dev mode, open the form, expand your column, save layouts, open the customization, slightly move any control (you can move it back), save customization
Or worse case scenario, talk to your developer and have him explicitly set the column width.
