Searching using symbols

I haven't found an escape char that works in SQL. Any punctuation
symbol (single & double quotes, slashes, brackets, blank space, a
newline etc) gives an SQL syntax error. I consider this bug, but have
never gotten around to submitting a help call about it.

In progress you need to escape the special characters using a tilde.
In SQL the normal escape character is a single quote, but we don't run
Epicor on SQL so I can't verify that it will work for you. I'd give it a
shot though.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with searching using symbols such as
" for inches or ' for foot? We are on version level 9.04.506C.

Yes, we are using "Where Part Description Contains" and we are a SQL
database. Notes on searching quirks would be handy!

I assume you are using "Where Part Description Contains"?
I can't search for " or ' either.
Seems like I remember, some other characters too.
& it being different depending on SQL or Progress.

I have notes somewhere on search quirks, if I can dig it up, I'll send you
the details.
Or maybe somebody else has specifics handy?
