I’ve been looking at setting up Security Groups as we are preparing for Go-Live,
I’ve setup all the groups and I’ve been going through the Security Menu’s that can be pulled down to the company,
I may be seeing this wrong however this looks like a complete mess. There are multiple sometimes several menu security groups with the same names but some have no menus assigned. Some of the Groups don’t have all the Menu’s included and are separated,
For Example, ‘Project Checklist Types’ has one Menu in SEC1142 and one in SEC1141 which are both called Production Team Maintenance.
This is just making tracking all of the Menus and setting up security properly a a massive task.
Just wondering how everyone else tackled this to ensure permissions worked at the best they could? We are changing access to about 400 menu’s.
One thing to keep in mind (that may or may not help retain your sanity) is that the Epicor security model is based on Windows NT 3.51 (from, oh, 1989 or so). EVENTUALLY, it will move to an Azure model and come up into the 21st century.
Not holding my breath, but it will happen. Someday.
