[semi-OT] RDP to Vantage Server Question

Yes that server has two NICs but one is disabled. I had added a Gigabit NIC to the server and disabled the onboard adapter. Unless it can bind to a disabled NIC I should be OK.

Speaking of ports I run BackupExec on that server and it has remote agents on other servers. I wonder if that could be a port contention issue.

Thanks for the ideas to check,
-Todd C.

Do you have multiple network adapters in the vantage server? Sometimes
RDP will bind to the wrong adapter. It Is a registry setting to change
this.

Another thing to check is that nothing else is utilizing TCP port 3389.
Again you can change this port in the registry if required.

RDP to Server 2003 is limited to two 'administrative' sessions. If
RDP sessions started and not logged out of properly will cause
issues. Use Terminal Services Manager to check and see if there are
running sessions.

to "enable" (or turn off "disable") this facility. I know there are
many people here doing this so any hints where to look first?

Should have mentioned that the Vantage server is Win2000-Server. As it happend all the other servers I can access are Win-2003 Server. I am now wondering if TS was not an installed option on that server. Seems to me when we set up the Win2K IIS server for the Citrix project in order to remote into it the consultant had to install something TS related..
Thanks,

Todd,

Make sure remote admin is enabled. Right click My Computer and select
Properties. Click the REMOTE tab and check the enable remote desktop on
this computer check box.

Todd

If you go to the terminal services manager from the citrix server you
can set it up to view all of your TS sessions for all of your servers,
and kill those sessions that could be hanging. If you need more info,
feel free to contact me offline.
