MOCON, a world leader in developing, manufacturing and marketing high-tech measurement equipment and services has an immediate need for a self-motivated Senior Buyer to join our team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Buyer purchases, with minimum supervision, both catalog parts and fabricated parts that a supplier would produce to MOCON, Inc. revision controlled drawing specifications. Also purchases other materials, equipment, components, machinery and supplies as necessary for ongoing company operations. To be located out of the Minneapolis corporate office.
Requests quotes on fabricated items when necessary and obtains pricing of catalog items prior to placing a purchase order.
Follows up on purchase orders placed by verifying price and delivery. Updates the CRM (Epicor 9) system as required and updates other records as necessary.
Acts as a liaison between suppliers and internal company personnel on manufacturing and quality related issues.
Evaluates price trends, new products, and manufacturing processes and establishes pricing objectives.
Monitors the cost, schedule and performance factors of major suppliers.
Researches and develops sources of supply for assigned commodities.
Exercises a good working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements.
Works with Quality Assurance Specialist in interviewing vendors to determine their capabilities on quality, price and delivery of a given commodity.
Reviews competitive proposals and negotiates for contract with acceptable vendor.
Other duties as required by management.
The ideal candidate would posses the following qualifications:
High school diploma plus 2+ years of college or technical institute courses and
5 years of applicable experience.
Experience with ERP's, Epicor 9 strongly preferred
Excellent verbal and written skills
Strong experience in MS Office Suite
