Serialized part on job

We have a serial-tracked child job that feeds into a parent job. We’re able to receive the child job into stock, but we cannot issue the part from the child job until Accounting closes it.

I also tried setting this up as Make-to-Job, but I get the same issue. The error message says:

“The following Serial Numbers are not available until the Jobs they are currently linked to are closed.”

Has anyone else run into this? If so, how did you work around it? Can you?

We have serial tracked jobs that we receive to stock and issue to parent jobs all the time. I have personally never gotten that message before. Any chance that error is coming from a BPM or customization?

That is possible but per the IS department it doesn’t look like a BPM.. May need some more investigation on that one.
Are you closing the serial tracked job first? In our case we are trying to issue it from stock but before its closed, which is when we are getting the error.

Serialized parts are fun.

You recieved the child job to stock.

You should then issue the material from stock, not the job.

That is an Epicor Message see that all the time with serialized parts.

NOT a BPM.

So much fun..!
And we have tried both ways - issuing from stock and make-to-job. We still get the error message until accounting closes the job that the serialized part was built on. Was hoping there was some way around this :crossed_fingers:

Have it be a subassembly instead of a seperate job.

What are your site settings? (Site Configuration->Serial Tracking)

I’m guessing it’s the “Do not allow processing” option of the Lower Level Serial Tracking. Maybe try out a warning-only option in your Test environment?

Unfortunately, no. I switched that to ‘Warn but allow processing’ and still cannot issue a serialized part unless its original job is closed.

Have you tried matching the serial numbers to see if it will allow that? Then maybe issue? :man_shrugging:

Are you meaning in serial matching? I tried manually matching the child part to the parent and it doesn’t allow me to enter a value there. Here is the error message I am getting -
