Serialized Part showing up on two different Jobs

Hi there,

We had a technician make an error when reading a serialized part (lets call it P1234) stamping and they issued it to Job A. When we found the error, I unclosed the job, returned the serialized component to inventory, issued the correct serialized component to Job A ( call this one P1235), closed the job again.

Then we issued serialzed part P1234 to Job B, finished the job, completed and closed it.

The question i have is this. Why when I look at the Serial Numbers Activity Tab for Job A, does it show both serialized parts P1234 AND P1235 on the serial number panel?

If i run the production detail report for Job A, it only shows P1235. If I look up the Serial Number Tracker for P1234, it shows it has been assigned to Job B.

Is there any way to remove the link on the Job A Serial Numbers Activity Tab to part P12341? If not why not? Maybe there is a really good reason to keep it? Also If Not, is there a way to tell the differerence between P1234 and P1235 on the Serial Number Activity Tab, ie one was assigned then unassigned, but the other is assigned still?

Thanks for your help!

IIRC that is from the PartTran history and short answer is most likely no as once it’s in there it’s in there even by mistake. Only way I know if is if there were never any activity (PartTran’s) you MIGHT be able to reassign a serial number or at least build a new one, but pretty sure each raw SN Id is only usable ONCE.
