Yep, 2 servers, 1 shared SCSI hard drive (or raid array)

Hi all,
My boss has asked the question - Will Vantage 4 or 5.x work under Microsoft server clustering in windows 2000?
I informed him that epicor do not even support raid 5 for Vantage, but I am asking the question anyway.
Does anyone know if this will work? Has anyone tried it?

At the Users Conference in October I spoke to three different IT
Managers that was running Vantage 5.0 in a Windows 2000 Cluster. I
was considering going that direction but instead choose to get one
large server. Hope thats some help.

Exactly what does it mean to "run Vantage 5.0 in a Windows 2000
Cluster"? Does that mean multiple servers handle the database?

I asked Epicor about this a while ago. The answer is no, because Progress
does not support server clustering. I believe they said it will work in a
failover cluster, but I would suggest confirming that with Epicor.

The server work load is divided between multiple systems which all share a
common hard drive(s). There is also a fail over cluster where one server
does the work and the other automatically takes over if the first server
goes down.

I can't find my emails from Progress and Epicor about this, but I do recall
that we were looking at a cluster until we discovered that Progress doesn't
support it. If others are running it successfully, maybe that feature has
changed in the new version of Progress or something, or like RAID5, I
suppose that doesn't mean it WON'T work, just that they can't guarantee that
it DOES work.

Anyone care to educate us all on what server clustering is?
I always like to learn how 'uninformed' I am.
