Set Decimal to Null or .0

Thanks Ted.  I can't set the Mask Input as they will need to enter higher numbers.  The problem we had before was if we wanted to enter 5 and the 0 was there they would enter 50 in error  as they weren't looking properly.  Think it's just going to be down to user training!

We're on Vantage 8.03 and I am trying to implement a customisation that will allow entry on an unbound field that updates to another table on Kanban Receipts.  This all works fine but I want to reset the field to null or .0 after the entry and all I can get is it to default to 0.0.

I don't want the leading 0 as in the past we've had too many errors with data entry not noticing where the cursor is, etc - can anyone help?  Thanks.

.0 is not a valid number
and you can't set a numeric field to "null" traditionally. Not sure why 0.0 would be an issue. You could format the field itself to hide that leading zero but its going to exist in the data

Make the unbound field a character field. Then convert that character-number to a numeric field in your code.

Jose - It's not an issue the value being in the data but we've had issues in the pasts where when the cursor defaults to the left side of the 0 and they just type the value when they and tab off without checking!  I know it's down to user attention at point of entry but we have experienced issues with operators in the past and I was just trying to minimise problems.  I appreciate your response.

Thanks Vic, I'll look into that option.

Use an EpiNumericEditor as the control, then set the MaskInput to something like this.

.nnnnnnnn
