Solution workbench errors with cab files during migration and upgrade to cloud

Hello all. we are working on upgrading and updating our on premise erp10.2.600 to kinetic 2025.2 in the cloud. we are attempting to import our customizations using the solution workbench. we are seeing some cab files fail stating an error occurred within the report server database. this may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. Has anyone encountered this and if yes have you found any work arounds for this. thank you in advance.

Its unresolved since August. All Epicor will say is that they are working really hard to figure it out, so hard that there have been no updates or progress for months.

Hi Robert,

We are on premise but did recently upgrade and had several problems with some solutions coming across nicely.

Do you get the error if your solution does not have anything with reports in it? Perhaps separating the reports out from the others could help.

Also, I have found sometimes for no obvious reason, installing the soln a second time, on overwrite mode again, made it work. When that failed, going to application studio and checking the customization in there via running it, saving it, publishing it, could make it work where the soln was installed. Occasionally a binding needed to be fixed, that was apparent when the new record plus sign and expected overflow menu items disappeared despite being in the original customization.

When that failed, exporting the custom layer directly from application studio and then importing into the new database made it work.

New update from support (same as the old update):
Our development team and Microsoft have been actively working on this high-priority issue for some time. Unfortunately, a universal mitigation or solution has not yet been identified, as the generic error returned to clients can stem from multiple causes within the SSRS service.

You may be able to get more attention to this known issue by telling your upgrade PM how much it’s impacting your ability to upgrade. We did an upgrade and cloud migration earlier this year and I don’t see how a go-live would even be possible without Solution Workbench.

Agreed, the more people that report the issue the high the chance it’ll get resolved. Especially if it can be shown to be hindering someone’s go-live.
