Actually, I've been having a problem with my firewall and sites that are
blocked. I've been in a go-around with SBC PacBell (somehow they are
associated with Yahoo!) and they were blaming my DSL problems on the fires
in SoCal (where I'm located -- a mere 3 miles from one of the fire lines).
So it was one of those times that I tried several tests--not just with
this
group, but with echo@... as well (this returns an e-mail that says
your e-mail is working--received this tip from someone on the
list--Patrick
or one of the Todds, I think).
Thanks for your understanding...I try not to do that very often.

Todd,
I understand the need for other types of test though. I have often had my
server reject a groups message as spam, and suddenly I stop getting all
groups email. Yahoo will "suspend" sending you the messages if your
server
rejects just one. You then have to go to their site, sign in, request to
be
reactivated, then respond to the reactivation request they send you and
all
is fine again.
For me it's an annoying pain just to find out if the list is just being
quite, or if I am "black listed" again.
Granted I avoid doing tests, but I forgive others quickly.
By the way, that is one of the things I like about this group. I have not
seen any nasty notes (though I have seen some whips and chains (sorry had
to
be done)). Other groups are not as polite.
Thank you all.

Suggestion for testing:
If you are just checking to see if your email is working try intentionally
mis-spelling "vantage" like vantages@yahoogroups.com (with added "s").
This will result in a non-deliverable message from the yahoogroup email
server but will confirm your ability to receive messages (if it is working
that is).
