Spel chek (?)

We just installed the Vanatage system. We had training here in plant. Even
during the training class the spell check program showed it inadequacies.
It is a now a subject of humor around here.

I have a guess that at some point in time one of your users OK'd that
combination of letters during a spelling check, and ADDED it to the
dictionary. Of course there's no way to EDIT the dictionary that I can
find.

Does anyone use the spell check in 3.0 (or 4.0 or 5.0 for that matter)
and find that it's not very smart?

We tried using it in text field dialog boxes (purchase orders, job
travelers, etc.) and it saw mothing wrong with iff, thhe and other
humorous words.

We had too much time to kill one day I guess. However it does seem that
it should work. Or are we challeneged by this scenerio?

Thanks!

Check Vantage\Spell\Custom.VTC That appears to have the user-added words
in plain text. I've run across a few misspellings and Euro-English words
that it should reject, but apparently are in its master
dictionary. Unfortunately the American.VTD that I probably contains that
is not editable.

Come to think of it... Add Custom.vtc to the list of things you need to
copy during a Vantage update that aren't in the instructions!

We found the spell check functionality to be totally useless to us because
most of our verbiage is entered into Vantage in all uppercase; the spell
checker automatically ignores anything in uppercase! I find it unthinkable
that Epicor would add something like this to Vantage and not make it more
configurable. Then again, I'm sure that Epicor knows more about my company
and what's best for us than we do. ERBIH (eyes rolling back in head)

Arrgh! That explains the stuff it was letting through! Thanks,
Steve; never would have made that connection!

Now what's it take to get Epicor to fix this really stupid "feature", or
let us configure its behavior?
