Std Labor Costs

I've struggling with this as well. Personally, I think standard
costing has been generally unsupported by Vantage. There are
absolutely no variance reports whatsoever. None of the stock reports
give a break down of labor costs by operation. You are completely on
your own to manage variance through custom reporting. This is tons
o'fun with multi-level BOMs. And then there is this issue with
bundling up cost of sub-assemblies from inventory into material costs.

This seems to be especially problematic with material burden costs.
If you have a job where you take some from stores and make some on the
job, it's impossible to come up with a standard cost scheme for that
sub-assembly that will allow the material burden in the WIP accounts
to completely flush out. Why on earth you would ever bundle material
burden costs into material cost is beyond me.

The options:

1. Keep everything in WIP, doing job to job issues of the
sub-assemblies to maintain the 5 account MLBSMB cost structures.

2. Have a single layer BOMs.

3. Customization: you can get whatever you want if you pay for it.

4. Pray they including in a future version (9?).

If anyone has some other suggestions, I would certainly love to hear them.

Good luck.

Chris

Job Tracker/Assemblies/Costs. Hit Retrieve. Info is stored in JobAsmbl
table.

Hitting retrieve is only good if you go through tracker and find the
last job that made the material, this is actual and not standard
anyways. Would have to be done manually for all materials in Parent job.

You need to write a separate custom Crystal report that takes all jobs
that made a widget and calculates your individual pieces for all
Materials on methods master for the parent.

If you have more than 2 layers you are always fighting this and will
always have "rolled up" cost components unless you write your report
down to the first level manufacturing job or purchase.
