I think we end up with what you describe as multi-level MOMs too.
We had a mixture to, costing with NonStock seemed to cause a lot of issues.
So, we've converted the majority of parts to Stock too.
Average cost has thrown in a few curves too.
Also, we discovered the costed BOM and PDR use different calculations for eztimates.
Maybe we can compare notes offline sometime...
