Time Entry as the successor to Time & Expense Entry?

I’ve started using Time Entry to prepare myself for next year, but I’ve had very glitchy results when making LaborDtl edits. Especially around the recall/edit behavior (DataViews resetting to first row, not the recalled row). Adding new LaborDtl records always sets the PayrollDate to the current date, regardless of the time period I have selected. I would literally have to use DMT or make a UBAQ if Time & Expense went away.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Or has everyone made a dashboard for labor edits by this point?

One of our companies uses Time / Expense fairly regularly, and I haven’t heard about those issues. They’re on Cloud though, so it might be improved in 24.2 / 25.1

Suprised there aren’t more replies on this. Time Entry (non-T&E) is horrible. We have all the same gripes. We still don’t know how to pull up n edit successfully. Figured the whole weekly vs current date / current user problems were my fault and perhaps its more intuitive to classic users (never seen classic). So far we’ve edited column order on the detail grid for easier entry, find entry on details screen better sometimes, but definately looking at possibilty of a UBAQ screen for edits and interested to hear others experience.

We gotta put in some ideas for revamp/review of this new app. I haven’t spent enough time but when we were cutting over to browser only it was glitchy back on 2021.

Yeah seems neglected. I gather many cos use time capture (MES/EKW, 3rd party) and consultants are suprised we want to enter labor, quick to recomend T&E even tho there’s no kinetic, I believe. :man_shrugging:

I recommend changing the Retrieve Records By setting to Day, instead of Week. As you mentioned, recalling or adding details can get messy, especially with multiple Summary rows. Only showing one day at a time has helped us.

We’re completely browser based, and since the smart client is going away next year, I haven’t setup Edge Agent to allow any of the classic interfaces. So I agree with the glitchiness of Time Entry. I’ve seen people having issues recalling time, and also people who panic thinking their time hasn’t been saved due to the Date Range not being set appropriately.

Time and Expense was definitely a much more stable & user friendly interface for end users to work with.

I really think we just have to make ideas or try and get Epicor to get a focus group for us regarding time entry and just have all of us on this thread hop on there and show things that we wish worked differently.

I’ve a stack of time cards to enter they can have.
