Time off requests

This won't help much if you don't use ADP for payroll but they have a product called HRB that handles this very well. Employees request time off via web portal (at their PC or several dedicated kiosks) and an request pending email is sent to their supervisor for approval. Once approved it later flows directly into payroll if it is paid time off. Employees can also self-monitor their PTO balances and just about any other HR info. It has saved at least one person-day per week and lots of paper....as well as maintaining an accurate history of time used. If you do have ADP it may be well worth looking into.

Subject: [Vantage][OT] Time off requests

I am looking for suggestions on how to manage time off requests.
Currently we require that every single individual who is not working
their scheduled shift to turn in a request for time off, even if they
will be flexing their time during the rest of the week with the
approval of their supervisor. We also require that our temps and part-
time employees who do not receive time off benefits turn in a time off
request. These forms are then forwarded to our payroll person where
she double checks each request and also checks to make sure that a
request is turned in for all shift changes. I tend to think that we
are killing too many trees unnecessarily. Any thoughts?

We created a table in Vantage to manage and keep track of this information:

TimeOff.Company
TimeOff.Plant
TimeOff.EmpID like EmpBasic.EmpID
TimeOff.Date
TimeOff.Type /* Vacation, Sick, Jury Duty, etc. */
