Tradeshow / Expo Lead Import

So, this is my first go-round with a batch of “Leads” from a tradeshow/expo in Epicor.

In the past, we used Dynamic CRM and would create a “marketing campaign” for a tradeshow. We could then import the “Leads” against that campaign and we could then assign them to specific sales persons to follow-up on the opportunities after the show.

We now have Epicor… we have the CRM module but haven’t used it yet for marketing campaigns, events, etc… so, I haven’t walked down this path yet.

Does anybody know… could anyone provide… a quick step-by-step on how best to handle this in Epicor?

I would assume I could create a “Marketing Campaign” and track all the marketing-side details. But what do I DMT against in order to bring in the Lead information? (Contact info, their company info, notes from the lead, etc.).

I’m hoping this would import in some location that would include the TerritoryID. So, I could review each lead in advance, assign them to the target “Territory” (we don’t do our territories geographically per se)… and then DMT those records in and those Salespersons would see the Lead pop up somewhere? as a list to review and follow-up?

Is this a huge process? Create a “task”, “Activity”, etc. etc.? Or can I just import the data somewhere and assign them to the desired Territory?

Here is what I did and none of it is fun.

  • Create a spin off page of the HDCase/helpdesk menu. (it helps so you can filter these separately and remove 90% of the stock case fields)
  • Define a task set for leads (something like contact lead, follow up, etc)
  • Create marketing campaign (Something like Tradeshows 2024), then an event for each show
  • create a customer record for the lead ( we batch them in using dmt. We also add contacts)
  • Then we DMT the lead as a case referencing that customer, contact and any other relevant info. If your territories and task sets are setup, then the task will be kicked off the the salesperson listed in that role code/territory.

Case works well because they can convert it to a quote. I won’t even get into the CRM app. It doesn’t even follow epicor’s naming conventions. Kinetic uses ‘suspect’ the app uses ‘lead’ its total chaos. You can always create a placeholder territory, have task 1 be “assign territory” and a role to have someone dish these out to sales, but if you have geographical sales regions, just use the territories. Or just assign the customer to a territory during that phase. I suppose if you want to go super simple, just create a single task, then dmt those is for each salesperson with the customer info in it.
