We regularly receive an error when doing inventory transfers that says 'The
transation will result in a negative onhand quantity for part: xyz, Bin: xyz'

We have checked the qty in the bin it is transferring from and the on hand qty
is correct both physically and on Epicor.

Chris,
Check the part class for this part.
There is a radio button for non negative transactions you have to change for this to be allowed.

I get these errors too and even worse since we use FIFO the transaction is not allowed so I can't move the part even thought the qty in that bin is positive.

Hi Chris,

If you haven't solved this yet, there's a Conversion Program in Admin Tools #6430 titled "Recalculate Part Onhand/Allocation summaries".

I've run that before to fix screwed up bin quantities.

HTH,
Nigel.

Hi Nigel,

Yes we re-run this quite regularly.

HOW an MRP system can allow the stock figures to go adrift like this and it not
be classed as a bug is beyond me!

Thanks.
