Sorry if this question has already been answered, however I searched and couldn’t find anything that addressed this issue one way or another. I’m having an issue wherein we have defined a qualified manufacturer and manufacturer’s part number for purchased parts. The issue arises where the manufacturer will update the part number for the part to a new number that refers to the exact same part that we are ordering, which we cannot update once this part number has been referenced by a PO. Is there any way to update the manufacturer’s part number after it has been referenced on a PO?
Hello Paul,
Working with a company with the same issue. The Lifecycle status doesn’t appear to do much so thought about a BPM during PO entry to stop saving a PO line when the lifecycle is set to “Obsolete”. Just curious how you folks solved it.
Thanks,

Hello Paul and John,
I’m running into the same issue when we need to update a manufacturer’s part number. We add a new manufacturer part, then set the old one to OBSOLETE, but PO Suggestions still show and let you select the obsolete manufacturer part to purchase. Did you ever solve the issue? It would be ideal if there was a “hold” flag on the manufacturer part, just like there is on the Part master item.
Hello Rachel,
No, we never did do anything more on this issue.
Thanks,
